The Best Haircut for Your Face Shape

A haircut is the fastest way to change how your face looks — no needles, no gym required. The trick is working with your face shape, not against it. Not sure of yours? Our free Face Shape Finder takes 60 seconds.
Oval
The most flexible shape — most cuts work. Avoid piling too much volume on top, which can lengthen an already balanced face.
Round
Add height and angles to lengthen. Think volume on top and shorter sides; avoid blunt, rounded styles that echo the face.
Square
Soften a strong jaw with texture, layers, and a little movement. Very sharp, boxy cuts can over-emphasize the angles.
Heart
Balance a wider forehead with a narrower chin: medium lengths, side-swept styles, and fringe work well; avoid heavy top volume.
A quick rule
- Round face → add angles and height.
- Long face → add width, reduce height.
- Strong jaw → soften with texture.
- Wide forehead → balance with length below.
